Brent was a loving dedicated husband and father who adored his family to the highest degree. As a
military officer, he was a consummate professional who always led by example and was revered by his
peers and leaders alike. His loss is devastating to his family, Army Aviation, and to our country.
His family and I are proud to have had him in our lives and he will forever remain deep in our
hearts.
Brent was a wonderful man who lived how he died, as a hero. A hero to a grateful nation, a hero to his friends, and most importantly a hero to his family. Brent's sense of humor was a gift to all who knew him. His love of life was contagious. Brent always took the time to see how you were doing, check on your family, or simply say hi. He never missed an opportunity to focus his attention on Carson. I never had to guess how Brent felt about Vanessa, his love for her was always present. I am a better person for having known him, and my family and I will miss him greatly.
Mr. Brent is my best friend's Dad. He is a hero and I will really miss him. Last summer I stayed some with the family while my Dad was in Korea. Mr. Brent always included me in his and Carson's wrestling even though Ms. Vanessa said not to hurt me. He was a great friend and true American Hero. His friendship really helped me when I missed my Dad and it will help me through missing him.

A terrific guy who could change an entire company with his presence. Never met anyone who could switch from total professional to class clown in a blink of an eye like Brent. We need more like him.
A Great Friend
Brent was a Great friend that I will miss dearly. All the great times we had from Summer football practices to Friday nights cruising Morgantown with our Crew(David, Jeff, Ernie, and Myself). These are all memories that bring a smile when I think of Brent. I am very proud to have known such a TRUE AMERICAN HERO!!! Jack, Helen, Vanessa and Carson the Albert Taylor family sends our prayers to you and your family in your time of loss. GOD BLESS you BRENT keep looking over us from heaven.
A True American
Brent Cole was a great soldier and friend to have as part of the 229th. He was the WO1 that all units hope to get - motivated, ready to learn, and always being part of the "team and family."' We just have great memories of the young aviator and his wife Vanessa and remember them bringing Carson home. I crossed paths with him in Iraq prior to the war starting and he was now an IP and just doing outstanding things as I knew he would -always setting the example for others to follow.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Vanessa, Carson, and his family. We have lost a great American who was not only a devoted husband and father, but a mentor to so many in the Army family. I am lucky and humble to have known such a fine man in my lifetime and will always remember the good times and his smile. Our deepest sympathies to all who knew and cherished him.
Respectfully,
MAJ (RET) Mario & Teresa Ochoa
Memories
I have so many memories of Brent. We didn't live far from each other and would hang out swimming at his or my pool, riding four wheelers with another friend or just watching movies. Brent was always a guy that would listen to what you had to say and would give his honest opinion. I wish we could have stayed closer after high school but the Air Force took me to Texas and Brent went overseas. Brent paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country and for that I will be eternally grateful.
What is Death?
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without affect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.
All is well.
