Brent was a loving dedicated husband and father who adored his family to the highest degree. As a military officer, he was a consummate professional who always led by example and was revered by his peers and leaders alike. His loss is devastating to his family, Army Aviation, and to our country. His family and I are proud to have had him in our lives and he will forever remain deep in our hearts.

The Four Candles

The four candles burned slowly
Their ambiance was so soft you
Could hear them speak.......

The first candle said “I am peace, but these days, no one wants to keep me lit.”
Then peace’s flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.

The second candle said “I am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable.”
Then Faith’s flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.

Sadly the third candle spoke “I am Love and I haven’t the strength to stay lit any longer.” “People put me aside and don’t understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them.”
And waiting no longer, Love goes out completely.

Suddenly........
A child enters the room and sees the three candles no longer burning.

The child begins to cry, “Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end.”
Then the fourth candle spoke gently to the little boy, “Don’t be afraid, for I am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles.”

With shining eyes the child took the candle of Hope and lit the other three candles.

Never let the Flame of Hope go out in your life.

Brent and I graduated High School together, although we were not close, I grew up in the same quiet neighborhood as his wife Vanessa, we became friends for a while and lost touch. I was very sad to hear of the loss of such a wonderful person. I hope time will heal some of the pain for you and Carson, Vanessa. Remeber the wonderful times you had together as a know you will.

From a cousin

Dear Nessa and Carson,
Brent was an amazing man. I only met him breifly twice, but both meetings astounded me. He was such a dedicated father, son, and cousin. He was always kind and courteous, and a really good example to his children. I miss him terribly, and wish I could have had more time with him. But since I can't, I wish to say one thing to you. Brent was a great man, and will never be forgotten.

To the Cole family: I served with CW4 Cole in Germany at 2-6 Cav – we met during in-processing at Illesheim. It was an honor to serve with him. He was a dedicated soldier and an exceptional aviator. Brent had two passions in life: his family and the US Army. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you

We the WW2 vets and the Vietnam vets would like to thank him for his ultimate sacrifice to his country. It was an honor to be a part of his being laid to rest. We in Preston County always honor our fallen heros because it is a part of our time honored tradition to be the most patritic state in the US. We in WV have sent more soliders to war percapita than any other state in the US and will continue to do so as long as we are needed.
Thank you Mr Cole for your service to the great state of WV and our country. You have given the ultimate sacrafice for us all.

Brent Cole...an American Hero

Vanessa,
It was an honor and a priviledge for the Patriot Guard Riders to escort Brent back to the hills of WV. When you were talking with us at the rest stop in VA, everyone of us got a lump in our throats when you thanked us for what we were doing for Brent. Believe me, we were honored to be there for him, and for you. Jesus said, "There is no greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." America lost a great friend when we lost Brent.

Carson,
I gave you a "Mission Accomplished" pin yesterday at the final services for your Dad. Everytime you look at that pin, remember that your Dad was, and forever will be, a hero. His final mission here on earth may be accomplished, but you need to carry on the memory of your father and all he stood for...make him proud.

May God grant each of you an extra measure of comfort and strength during the difficult days ahead.

A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

Dear Vanessa, Carson, and Family,

It is so very difficult to find the words to help comfort you at this time. We want to let you know just how very sad we are for your loss. Reading all the wonderful tributes which are so respectful to Brent, has indeed been a honor. No words could ever express our gratitude for the dedication and service he provided to each one of us and to our country.
Brent and each of you have given the ultimate sacrifice. As our hearts are filled with grief they are also filled with pride and respect.
May the blessings in the sky and beyond watch over you and comfort you.

In our hearts and prayers, always.
